I was in the middle of copying when I heard the sound of a ball pen fall to the floor right beside me. 

      Being involuntary helpful, I picked it up from the floor the same time a hand bent down to get it. I looked up the same time he did.   

      Wait. I’d know those blue eyes anywhere!

      OH MY GOD! I felt like I was going to have a heart attack!

      It was HIM! Sean Jared Sullivan. In my Biology class. Looking a hundred times cuter than he was five years ago. Than he was in my dream. I was going to faint!

          This moment is just too good to be true! Was this another one of those daydreams where my past haunts me? I pinched myself to see if I was dreaming. Ow. Okay this is so real.

          “K-Kelsie?!” Jared’s voice sent a thrill to me just like it always used to.

The bell rang. It was time for lunch.

Okay, so that was the worst thing that has ever happened in my whole entire life! Waking up in the middle of my wonderful dream is second. How worse is that?

       “Wh-what are you doing here in Apple Valley?! You were…your dad…I-I thought y-you were in New York?!” I struggled to find coherent words.

          But the crowd of students struggling to get free pushed him farther out and into the hallway.

          OH MY GOD. I just cannot believe this is happening!

          I rushed outside and looked around for him. He was gone.

          I ran to the double doors of the noisy cafeteria. I found Precious and Abby sitting at our usual table, looking so excited.

          After buying my lunch of lasagna and garlic bread, I ran to their table.

          “You guys! Something surreal just happened!” I said when I reached the table. “I saw—”

          “I know!” Abby said, cutting me off. “I just made friends with a really gorgeous guy!”

          “Abby introduced me to him! He is so hot—and nice too! I can’t even believe he’s real!” Precious added, as if she forgot that she has a boyfriend, Seth—who usually sits with Brandon and the other guys since he’s too embarrassed to sit with his girlfriend and her crazy friends.

          “I thought the most gorgeous boy ever was Brandon Miller?” I asked her.

          “Yes, I know, I still like him of course!” She rolled her eyes. “But this guy is way cute. Cuter than Brandon even! Okay, I cannot believe I just said that but anyway, he’s in my Geometry class and he asked if he can sit with us since he’s a newbie, and who am I to say no? That would be like waiting for the iron to cool down before striking! You know that saying ‘Strike while the iron is hot’?” She jabbered on. “His name is—”

          “Alright, enough!” I cut her off. “I don’t want to hear about that guy anymore. I just saw—”

          “Here he comes now.” Precious said, pointing his finger at someone behind my back.

          “Hi Abby, Hi Precious.” A voice behind me spoke. All the blood rushed from my face. My heart drummed inside my chest. Beads of sweat started forming on my forehead. I think I’m going to faint.
